Thanks to great organisation by our Trips Officer, Elaina Duggan, UL Surf Club’s first trip of the semester went off without a hitch. We only needed to travel a short distance to get to one of our favourite spots, Lahinch, for the weekend. The waves might not have been superb but the craic certainly was. Friday night was spent preparing the our new members and Erasmus students for what was to come. Saturday was split between the beach and Kenny’s as some of us forwent surfing in favour of the Ireland vs. Italy match. Those who were determined to stay in the water were admired for their defiance of the freezing temperature, even with booties and hoods! We danced the night away in The ‘Mont, a requirement for any weekend spent in Lahinch. Sunday followed much the same pattern; the lack of swell caused some of our members to go in search of fun elsewhere and they stumbled upon a few of UL's OPC members in the Burren. Overall, it was a weekend well spent. We now look forward to a glorious return to Lahinch in March for our next event, where we will be hosting the Irish Surf Intervarsities and welcoming Surf Clubs from all over the country.
